SUBSTATION ENGINEERING

Substation engineering is a specialty of Elektromontaža. Our range of services covers complete engineering packages.

We have also developed our own manufacture of prefabricated substations, which is our response to the most common requirements in the energy market.

POWER LINE ENGINEERING

We have built over 850 km of 110 kV, 35 kV and 10(20) kV power lines and over 1000 km of low-voltage networks.

We have developed our own range of steel lattice towers and metal structures as the basis of power lines, adapting our design to demanding terrains and surfaces.

SUBSTATION CONSTRUCTION

Elektromontaža is recognizable on the market for construction of substations on the basis of drawings, and reconstruction and expansion of existing facilities.

It also provides maintenance services and installations for circuit breakers, as well as complete solutions for substations of up to 400 kV. We have developed our own range of prefabricated substations and our facilities include workshops for assembling and testing of pre-installed electrical equipment.

PROTECTIVE RELAYING AND MEASUREMENTS

ENERGY EQUIPMENT TESTING

Elektromontaža pays special attention to ensuring that every installed and commissioned substation is fully operational, appropriate and compliant with the highest standards.

Whether we are helping clients integrate new technology into old substations or maintaining their existing facilities, Elektromontaža provides testing of equipment for voltage levels of up to 400 kV.

Our testing methods include both FAT and SAT testing. We conduct factory quality and quantity acceptance testing – Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in our own workshop for in-house manufactured equipment, as well as for equipment delivered by our partners (vendors) prior to its installation at the actual site. After completion of construction, we perform onsite quantitative and qualitative acceptance testing – Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to make sure that each unit is properly installed and that all parts of the substation are fully functional.

 

Power lines

As a contractor in the field of construction, expansion and maintenance of the power grid, Elektromontaža has a comprehensive knowledge and know-how regarding power systems and ensuring continuous supply of energy over long distances through stable and reliable structures, overhead and underground power lines.

 

Therefore, our references in this field can be summed up by the following figures, as in the past 10 years alone, we have built:

 

  • Over 20 OHL connections to substations (SSs) – 400 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV;
  • Over 250 km of 110 kV power lines;
  • Over 350 km of 35 kV power lines;
  • Over 500 km of 10 kV power lines;
  • Over 1000 km of underground low-voltage networks.

CONSTRUCTION OF OVERHEAD LINES

Over the past ten years alone, Elektromontaža has completed the construction of overhead lines, installing OHL connections of various lengths – from 20 to 80 kilometres, connecting more than 20 substations (400 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV) to the power system throughout Serbia.

We execute all required construction works: we manufacture, deliver and erect OHL lattice towers, deliver and install conductors, test and commission installed equipment.

Our OHL references include the following:

  • “Obrenovac A – Beograd 3” (220 kV);
  • “Raška – Novi Pazar” (20 km, 110 kV);

In addition to construction, our specialty is also reconstruction and replacement of equipment on existing power lines of different voltage levels. Our employees are skilled enough to plan and carry out replacement of conductors, insulators and to install new towers, since they are trained to perform onsite work under all weather conditions.

Construction of cable lines is also part of our portfolio, as we have built underground networks with a total cable length of about 1000 km.

DISTRIBUTION NETWORK CONSTRUCTION

Elektromontaža is very proud of its experience and expertise in the most complex projects, such as those related to engineering and construction of distribution networks. The solutions we offer in this field go beyond standard infrastructure projects, project work packages, work development, organization, unit evaluation systems and external analysis, as well as complete construction after determining the scope of the contracted project. Since obtaining electrical energy from coal in thermal power plants results in substantial environmental pollution, due to the production technology itself, Elektromontaža, in addition to its engagement in investment projects, takes great care of environmental protection and harmful gas reduction. In accordance with the company’s business strategy, we took part in projects of exhaust gas filtration in thermal power plants – desulphurization and deashing.

For this reason, in addition to providing services ranging from engineering to construction and maintenance, we have developed our own range of prefabricated substations and steel lattice and towers, which are manufactured to the latest standards.

 

We have also developed our own medium-voltage laboratory for testing electrical insulation equipment before using it on site, thus ensuring the safety of workers, as well as installed equipment.

 

Our production facilities call attention to special workshops for major overhaul of power transformers, where we maintain, repair and test transformers of up to 12000 kVA, 35 kV.

PREFABRICATED SUBSTATIONS

As construction and maintenance of substations has always been our specialty, Elektromontaža has started in-house manufacture of prefabricated substations that we ourselves designed and constructed, as well as providing engineering service, which is available on request.

The scope of prefabricated substation solution includes the following:

  • 10(20) kV / 0.4 kV substations with steel lattice structure and power ranging from 50 kVA to 400 kVA;
  • 10(20) kV / 0.4 kV pole-mounted substations with a single concrete pole and power ranging from 50 kVA to 400 kVA;
  • High-voltage cells and low-voltage blocks for 110 kV, 35/10 kV and 10(20) kV / 0.4 kV substations.

Specialisation in the construction of overhead power lines has led to design, development and manufacture of our own range of steel lattice towers and metal structures, which are the basis for transmission lines, whereby we adapt the design to challenging terrain and surfaces.

MEDIUM-VOLTAGE TESTING LABORATORY

Elektromontaža takes all precautions necessary to ensure a safe working environment for employees on site and to install high quality and safe electrical equipment. Therefore, we have developed our medium-voltage laboratory, which allows us to test electrical insulating equipment in safe and controlled conditions.

Equipment parts tested in our laboratory are:

  • Insulating mats;
  • Insulating rubber boots, gloves, etc.;
  • Insulating sticks;
  • Insulating sticks for earthing systems;
  • Insulated pliers;
  • Up to 10 kV voltage indicators including accessories;

OVERHAUL OF PRIMARY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

Our production facilities comprise a workshop for power transformer overhauls, where we maintain, repair and test transformers of up to 12000 kVA, 35 kV.

Overhaul of transformers of up to 12000 kVA, 35 kV includes: cleaning and washing, required metal works, transformer oil refining, manufacture of new windings, drying the active parts and testing the overhauled transformers.

Our test cycle includes the following steps:

  • Measuring dielectric strength of transformer oil;
  • Measuring winding insulation resistance and dielectric absorption ratio (DAR);
  • Checking transmission and group connections;
  • Insulation testing;
  • No-load test;
  • Short-circuit test;
  • Measuring winding resistance.
